The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services develops the skills, knowledge and understanding of learners to the standards required to confirm competence in an occupational role to manage practice and lead others in adult health and social care provision or in children and young people’s services. The diploma is aimed at managers and advanced practitioners working in health and social care and children and young people’s services. The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services is designed to develop the leadership, management, and professional competencies required to effectively lead health and social care and children’s services. Learners must complete a maximum of 90 credits including 30 credits from the mandatory units, and a minimum of 60 credits from one of the pathways, in order to achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services.

  • Undertake a Research Project within Services for Health and Social Care or Children and Young People

This qualification is Internally Assessed. Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. The main pieces of evidence for the portfolio could include some or all of the following:

  1. Assessor observation or Witness testimony
  2. Learner product & Worksheets
  3. Assignments/projects/reports
  4. Record of oral and written questioning
  5. Learner and peer reports

This qualification is delivered through a flexible blended learning approach, with Microsoft Teams for Education serving as the primary learning platform. Upon enrolment, learners are provided with secure login credentials to access course materials, learning resources, recorded sessions, assessments, and programme updates. The platform enables learners to engage with the programme at their own pace while benefiting from live tutorials, academic support, collaborative activities, and regular interaction with tutors and peers. This digital learning environment ensures convenient access to learning resources and support, providing an engaging and effective learning experience that promotes academic success and professional development.

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services is a flexible, self-paced programme designed to accommodate the needs of working professionals. Learners can complete the qualification through a Fast-Track Route in 9 months or a Standard Route in 12 months, depending on their experience, availability, and learning pace.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Learners should be a minimum of 19 years old to undertake this qualification.
  • Learners who have work experience in the health and social care sector and demonstrate ambition with clear career goals;
